Job Description
The Vet Vision Center is hiring a qualified Patient Care Nurse to join our brand-new, boutique ophthalmology specialty practice in Lambertville, NJ. The hospital was fully renovated in 2022 from the ground up to offer an ultramodern facility and support a high-touch client experience. The ideal candidate is interested in the specialty of ophthalmology, enjoys working with a passionate team, and desires to provide exceptional client and patient care. The Patient Care Nurse will aid in providing both medical and surgical ophthalmology services alongside Dr. Shelby Reinstein, board-certified ophthalmologist, and founder of the Vet Vision Center.
Responsibilities

Manage client phone calls and emails with questions or concerns

Manage patient refill requests by reviewing the chart, discussing with the nurses or doctor, filling and/or mailing medications

Assist with providing & reviewing surgical estimates and scheduling of surgical procedures in a timely, professional and caring manner

Manage post-operative call backs to ensure patients are recovering well

Answer phones, especially at busy times, and cover CSR lunch and break times

Assist nurses with advanced ophthalmic diagnostics such as ocular ultrasound and electroretinography

Assist nurses with ophthalmic examinations and testing using proper restraint techniques

Conduct in-house diagnostics as needed (e.g. CBC and chemistry panels, snap tests, slide staining)

Assist with maintaining a healthy, clean, and organized hospital environment

Offer support and solutions to clients in accordance with the company's customer service policies

Other duties as assigned
Skills
-
Proficient and professional during client interactions such as phone triage, obtaining a history, discussion of patient care, and phone / email communication

Basic knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, terminology, and common eye conditions with a desire to become proficient in this area

Basic knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and surgical instruments including proper care & handling

Knowledge of commonly used ophthalmic medications with a desire to become proficient in this area

Able to comfortably work with cats, dogs, and small mammal / exotics
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in multiple roles and maintain a positive team focus

Proficient at Gmail, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
Education & Experience
-
High school or equivalent (preferred)
-
Veterinary hospital experience: 2 years (required)
